'TREE OF HOPE' BY BLUFROGE

During this season of giving, Blufroge Sdn Bhd took a step forward to bring about some Christmas cheer to kidney failure patients at the National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia (NKF).

The 'Tree of Hope' project was launched via Blufroge and NKF's online social media platforms to raise funds for the underprivileged dialysis patients; Blufroge donated RM5.00 for every 'LIKE' on the Facebook page specially created for the fundraising drive (http://www.blufroge.com/NKF).

The campaign ran from 1 - 25 December 2012. Thanks to Blufroge, the 'Tree of Hope' raised RM12,935.00 to help NKF in our live-saving mission!

MY DANCE, YOUR LOVE, OUR HOPE

Dance academy, Vivace Danz World played host to a charity concert at Putrajaya on 15 December 2012 to raise funds in aid of the National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia (NKF) as part of the academy's commitment to charitable causes aside from cultivating talented dancers.

The students outshined themselves with a wide range of fantastic perfomances on stage, inclusive of ballet, rhythmic gymnastics, modern dancing, Latin dance and many more!

Thanks to Vivace Danz World, the charity concert raised RM6,000.00 to further aid the underpriviledged and deserving dialysis patients at NKF.


CHARITY SALE BY TAYLOR'S LAKESIDE CAMPUS STUDENTS


A group of Taylor's Lakeside Campus Students organized a charity sale as part of their academic assignment to raise funds in aid of the National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia from 3 to 7 December 2012. Handmade accessories, books and various literatures, along with fresh coconut drinks were sold at the event by the students.

Our sincere thanks to Conie Lim Su Ying, Samantha Lim Ai Pei, Jessie Leong Lee Yee, Deidre Zhang and Lydia Amalina for this great fundraising project.


LOSING WEIGHT FOR CHARITY BY LEIGHTON OFFSHORE

In an effort to promote healthier lifestyle and regular exercise routines among the staff, Leighton Offshore Sdn Bhd donated RM100 to every kilogram the participating staff lost.

The participating staff lost 70 kilograms in total and the company contributed RM7,000.00 to the National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia to help ease the financial burden of the underprivileged kidney-failure patients having to go through dialysis treatments. A mock cheque presentation was held at the NKF headquarters in Petaling Jaya on 19 September, 2012.

The visiting team from Leighton Offshore also visited the dialysis centre, while Centre Manager, Sister Siti shared some knowledge on haemodialysis treatment and kidney care to Leighton staff.

GUARDIAN 45TH ANNIVERSARY CHARITY BONANZA

To mark Guardian’s 45th Anniversary and in conjunction with the anniversary festivities, Guardian carried out its annual charity campaign to help generate funds for three charity bodies; the WAO, World Vision Malaysia and National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia (NKF).

WAO and World Vision received RM120,000.00 and RM80,000.00 respectively. NKF received RM50,000.00 for its Children Welfare Education Fund to aid the children of underprivileged dialysis patients.

CSR DONATION FROM BIAXIS (M) SDN BHD

Mr Chua Hong Wee, NKF CEO received a mock cheque from Mr Robin Tan, Financial Controller of Biaxis (M) Sdn Bhd worth RM25,245.00 as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility initiative.

The team from Biaxis (M) Sdn Bhd visited NKF Malaysia and donated a sum of RM23,000.00 on 30 August, 2012. A slide presentation, and a visit to the dialysis centre were organized by the Fundraising Department so as to enable our visitors understand more about haemodialysis treatment, kidney transplantation, patients’ welfare and activities and the knowledge of kidney health and kidney care.

FESTIVE BONANZA AT THE STORE

The Store departmental store celebrated its 44th anniversary in Malaysia with a fundraising drive in aid of the National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia between 1 February and 31 July 2012.

The Store’s Group Finance Director, Mr Chang Yen Huei presented the cheque of RM75,000 to the NKF Chief Executive Officer Mr Chua Hong Wee at The Store Sungai Buloh recently (10 Nov 2012) in conjunction with the group’s Triple Reward celebrations.

The group received some 3.4 million entry forms for the main lucky draw with the grand prize winner winning a Proton Preve; while the first and second prize winners received a Perodua Myvi and a Perodua Viva respectively.

The event also witnessed the prize giving ceremony of the cute baby photography contest, as well as the launch of the Christmas Triple Rewards.

The Store ambassador, Adibah Noor, graced the event.


PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION FOR CHARITY 2012


The month-long Photograph Exhibition for Charity (PEC) 2012 organized by Galaxy Group of Companies helped raise some RM1,000 in aid of the National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia (NKF).

The inaugural event which ended on 7 October 2012, attracted 50 submissions from amateur photographers and visual artists who also participated in the EPSON 100 Photo / Art Exhibition in Sabah.


RESOUNDING SUCCESS “EMPRESS WU – THE MUSICAL”

Thanks to the valuable and sole sponsorship from Loh and Loh Corporation Berhad and its group of companies, and the resounding support from our donors, supporters, associates, vendors, and partners, we had raised some RM104,000 from the recently concluded Empress Wu – The Musical on 29 September 2012.


Produced by the renowned Dama Orchestra, Empress Wu – The Musical played to an almost capacity-crowd at the Kuala Lumpur Performance Art Centre when the National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia hosted the performance. 

The musical was based on the life and times of the first and only female emperor in the history of China – a visionary, a nation builder, a tyrant, and the symbol of ultimate female defiance in Confucian China. 

Speaking to the audience prior to the beginning of the performance, Chairman of NKF’s Fundraising Committee, Mr Leong Yeng Kit thanked the audience, particularly Mr Jason Loh, managing director of Loh and Loh Corporation Berhad, who is also an ardent fan of Dama Orchestra’s performances, for their strong support towards NKF. 

Mr Leong said the funds received from the project would certainly help ease the burden of our patients as well as to give them a better quality of life.

CHARITY OUTREACH TO THE UNDERPRIVILEGED COMMUNITIES

Mr Teh Wee Chin, General Manager of Pan Malaysia Sweeps led his team to present goodies to the dialysis patients at Pusat Dialisis NKF-Dato’ Dr GA Sreenevasan, Petaling Jaya on 20 September, 2012. Pan Malaysia Sweeps donated RM100,000.00 to National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia in line with their company’s corporate social responsibility initiatives to further reach out to deserving underprivileged communities.

A GIFT OF LOVE

NKF Malaysia raised RM29,528.00 from the recent sale of the Gift of Love moon cakes – thanks to the strong support from our donors nationwide. The funds raised would be channelled to purchase medical equipment that is due for replacement.

RAYA CHARITY DONATION BY DYNASTY VIEW SDN BHD

Developer, Dynasty View Sdn Bhd donated RM5,000.00 to NKF Malaysia as part of the company’s Raya cheer to underprivileged but deserving communities during their buka puasa function for the business partners, employees and the media.


“HAND IN HAND”, MUSIC & CHARITY DINNER BY SEE HOY CHAN SDN BHD

On 29 July 2012, See Hoy Chan Group hosted a music and charity night featuring performances from DAMA Orchestra at the Sime Darby Convention Centre as part of the company’s social commitment to aid underprivileged communities. Throughout the years, charity projects, fund-raising events and donations have been an on-going aspect of the See Hoy Chan Group’s operations; these philanthropic works were started by the company’s Founder, the late Dato’ Teoh Hang Sam. During his life time, Dato’ Teoh had contributed significantly to various charities, schools and hospitals. 

The total fund raised from this meaningful event amounted to RM375,000.00 – in which NKF received RM125,000.00 along with other 2 beneficiaries (Malaysian Nature Society & Pusat Penjagaan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Taman Megah.) Mr Chua Hong Wee, NKF CEO received the mock cheque from Mr Teoh Chiang Kai, Executive Director of See Hoy Chan Sdn Bhd Group (far right) along with the representatives from other 2 charitable organizations.

THE 8TH DIALYSIS MACHINE BY VITACARE TO NKF

On 26 July 2012, Ms Aileen Chong, General Manager of Vitacare Pharmacy handover the 8th dialysis machine to National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia in line with the company’s ‘Touch A Life’ campaign in giving back to deserving and needy communities. 

The new dialysis machine was being placed at NKF – Rotary Damansara, Selayang Dialysis Centre. 

Vitacare Pharmacy has continuously supported NKF’s life-saving mission since year 2003.

2ND NKF – SUNWAY LIFECHECK MOBILE HEALTH SCREENING UNIT

On 10 July 2012, National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia received its 2nd unit of LifeCheck Mobile Health Screening Bus generously sponsored by Sunway Group. Tan Sri Dr Jeffrey Cheah, the Founder and Chairman of Sunway Group said, “Prevention is definitely better than cure. With LifeCheck, we can build awareness of kidney diseases.” 

Dato Dr Zaki Morad Mohd Zaher, Chairman, Board of Directors of NKF received the mock key of this latest installment on behalf of the Foundation at the official launch located at Sunway Pyramid.

CHARITABLE ACT FROM SYARIKAT BORONG DIN CS

Puan Ooi Giu Chooi placing the plaque on a new Fresenius dialysis machine, witnessed by YAM Tengku Syarif Bendahara Perlis Dato’ Seri Diraja Syed Badaruddin Jamalullail, the representative of Pusat Rawatan Dialisis Tuanku Syed Putra – NKF (Kangar), during the official dialysis machine handover ceremony in line with the charitable donation made by Syarikat Borong Din CS .

RM 15,000 RAISED FROM ‘FITNESS FOR CHARITY’

On 30 June 2012, Celebrity Fitness Malaysia hosted a ‘Fitness for Charity’ event at Wangsa Walk Open Car Park supported by over 300 participants to raise funds in aid of National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia. Mr Kwangho Choi, Managing Director of Celebrity Fitness Malaysia exclaimed his joy and support to reaching out to underprivileged communities. 

Multi-talented Baki Zainal was the event emcee and this charitable work-out was supported by Amber Chia, Dina Nadsir, Azizi Zakaria (Teenage Ambassador of NKF) and many other local artiste and media partners.

CHARITY PERFORMANCE OF ZITHER & 24-SEASON DRUMS

On 29 June 2012, the Galaxy Group of Companies organized a charity performance at the Global Business Convention Centre, Petaling Jaya in aid of NKF Malaysia. A charity concert showcasing the talented and award-winning ‘Zheng’ and ‘Drum’ troupes from Hong Kong Cognitio College managed to raised RM7, 140.00 – with Dato’ Thomas Khung, Group Chairman and Managing Director of Galaxy Group of Companies (GGC) handing-over the mock cheque to Mr Chua Hong Wee, CEO NKF Malaysia on the night of the event.

The partnership between GGC and NKF begun in year 2001 in which NKF is grateful to be continuously supported by GGC throughout the years as we further reach out to more underprivileged patients with end-stage kidneys failure and providing the public on preventive education of kidney diseases.

On 8 June 2012, Jarod Soh from Swimin12.com presented a mock cheque worth RM10, 000 in donation to Mr Chua Hong Wee, CEO of NKF Malaysia at the NKF Resource Centre in Petaling Jaya. This charitable deed was in line with the corporate social responsibility efforts from Swimin12.com to support the underprivileged and deserving communities. 

This generous support inspires NKF to continue to our best – providing quality dialysis care to underprivileged patients suffering from end-stage kidneys failure and educating the public on kidney health and care.


10 DIALYSIS MACHINES FROM BERJAYA CARES FOUNDATION

In line with Berjaya Corporation’s corporate social responsibility initiative to provide aid to the underprivileged community, the National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia (NKF) received 10 new dialysis machines which cost RM450,000.00 from Berjaya Cares Foundation. The handover ceremony was held at NKF in Petaling Jaya on May 16, 2012.



CHARITY DINNER & VARIETY SHOW: SUN SING DRAMATIC SOCIETY 40th ANNIVERSARY AND PARENTS DAY SPECIAL

It was indeed a heartwarming night for all who attended “Charity Dinner & Variety Show” at the KL & Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall on 12 May, 2012. 

A total of RM 66,044.00 was raised from this charity dinner, in which RM37,070.00 was donated to aid the patients at National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia.

LOVE ALIVE CHARITY CONCERT (LACC) 2: PRIDE OF MALAYSIA

On 31 March 2012, The Rotaract Club of Penang and undergrads from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) jointly organized the Love Alive Charity Concert 2: Pride of Malaysia to raise funds in aid of the National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia in conjunction with the world kidney awareness month in March.

A total of RM30, 000.00 was raised in aid of NKF to promote kidney care and kidney health awareness to the public.

The concert was held in the Dewan Tunku Syed Putra, USM Penang.


TRANSFORMING LIVES, WE STRIVE FORWARD: UTAR RUN 2012

In conjunction with Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) 10th Anniversary this year, a group of the Universiti’s Public Relations students from its Perak Campus organized a carnival and run at Dataran Ipoh to raise fund in aid of the National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia. 

Gracing the event on 4 March, 2012 were Perak State EXCO, YB Dato’ Mah Hang Soon, representatives from NKF Malaysia and the President of UTAR, Ir. Professor Dato’ Dr. Chuah Hean Teik.

Total Funds Raised: RM50,000.00.


NKF – KELAB LIONS ALOR STAR (HOST): CNY FESTIVE CHEER

Kindly sponsored by Madam Foo from DXN Marketing and the Lions Club of Alor Setar, the kidney patients at NKF – Kelab Lions Alor Star (Host) received “ang pows” worth RM100.00 along with mandarin oranges and LingZhi tea in conjunction with the Chinese New Year Celebration which fell on 23 January 2012.


CNY “ANG POWS” FOR PATIENTS FROM YTM TUNKU PANGLIMA BESAR KEDAH

A total of 5 kidney patients from NKF – Lions Club Alor Setar (HOST) were presented “Ang Pows” worth RM300.00 each from YTM Tunku Panglima Besar Kedah Dato’ Seri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz binti Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Tuanku Sultan Haji Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah on 19 Jan 2012 at Holiday Villa Hotel.

HILTON CHRISTMAS TRAIN PROJECT

In a bid to spread light and warmth to the lives of the underprivileged, the charitable year-end project of Hilton Petaling Jaya – the Hilton Christmas Train – has returned for the seventh year. The miniature train exhibit featured a winter setting of the North European Village with royal icing mountains, royal icing trees as tall as 0.76m, traditional buildings made from gingerbread, bridges, billboards, tunnel and hot air balloons. The attractive display was showcased at the hotel lobby from 1 Dec 2011 to 8 Jan 2012. The funds raised from the project will be channelled to Rumah Hope and National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia.
