Introduction

At the National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia (NKF), the welfare of patients is of paramount importance. The NKF Welfare Department ensures that the physical, emotional, psychological, social and financial well-being of patients is taken care of through its various programmes.

These stringent procedures are necessary as the fees for dialysis treatment are subsidised by the Government and NKF. NKF lowered its dialysis treatment fees for non-sponsored patients from RM100.00 to RM90.00 per treatment with effect from 1 April 2015. Successful applicants will need to pay RM90.00 per dialysis treatment on admission; subsequently NKF will help eligible patients to apply for the Ministry of Health (MOH) subsidy of RM50.00 per dialysis treatment.

Therefore in NKF, eligible patients pay only RM40.00 for each dialysis treatment, where RM50.00 is subsidised by MOH, and the remaining RM70.00 is subsidised by NKF via its fundraising efforts.

Note: The average cost for each dialysis treatment at NKF is RM160.00
