NKF Events 2020

On 7th March, the Lions Club of Alor Setar organised the World Kidney Day (WKD) celebrations with Pusat Dialisis NKF – Kelab Lions Alor Star, Kedah at Alor Star Mall, Kedah.

This event was launched by YB Simon Ooi Tze Min, Environment and Green Resources Committee Chairman, aimed to promote public awareness on chronic kidney disease.

The day began with a fun filled Zumba dance. These includes free health screening by NKF – Public Education Department (PED) team, health talk, exhibition booths, lucky draw, blood donation and children’s drawing contest themed ‘Eat Right, Be Heathy.’

All the participants received goody bags at the end of the event. It was indeed a memorable and successful event.

On 16 February 2020, Lions Club of Alor Star and Pertubuhan Kebajikan dan Amal Muhibah Alor Setar visited the dialysis patients at Pusat Dialisis NKF – Kelab Lions Alor Star (Alor Setar).

Each patient received an ‘ang pow’ with the amount of RM500 from Leo Club Local Committee Chairman, Lion Ng Ah Kheng. He hoped the annual donation would be able to help the hardcore poor kidney patients to defray a portion of their dialysis bills.

NKF greatly appreciates the generosity and kind efforts from Lions Club of Alor Star and Pertubuhan Kebajikan dan Amal Muhibah Alor Setar in helping our poor patients.

CODE: Life Webinar by National Kidney Foundation

In conjunction with the recent National Organ Donation Awareness Week, the National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia (NKF) organised a Community Organ Donation Drive (CODE): Life Webinar with the theme “Living Kidney Transplant” – adhering to physical distancing and public health guidelines – to raise awareness on the importance of organ transplant and donation.

The webinar featured nephrologists Dr Nor Fadhlina Zakaria from Hospital Serdang and Dr Ruslinda Mustafar from Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz, UKM as the keynote speakers who empowered webinar attendees with practical and relevant medical insights.

Another highlight of this webinar was the heart-warming sharing session by Shah Zahid Razali, a 25-year-old kidney failure patient who was given a second chance at life by his older sister, Wardahanisah Razali – who also shared her experience as a living organ donor.

The informative online event was completed with a lively and engaging Q&A session between the speakers and attendees.
