CODE: Life Programme
Since 2018, the National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia (NKF) has led the Community Organ Donation Drive (CODE): Life programme, in collaboration with nephrologists. This initiative focuses on educating the public and raising awareness about the critical importance of organ donation and transplantation, aiming to inspire more Malaysians to become organ donors by providing clear, factual information about the donation process and its life-saving impact.
Many people are hesitant to donate organs, and some fear receiving them. In Malaysia, there are often negative perceptions about organ donation. CODE: Life seeks to address and change these misconceptions, promoting organ donation as a true “Lifesaver
Key Focus
The primary goal of CODE: Life is to inspire the relatives of patients with End-Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) to consider becoming living kidney donors. The programme is designed for newly diagnosed ESKD patients, their caregivers, and the general public. It offers a valuable platform where kidney donors and recipients share personal experiences and insights on living kidney transplantation.
