On 29 & 30 November 2014, NKF as part of its annual event since 2003, organized and hosted the 12th Annual Dialysis Meeting (ADM) for 2014.

The ADM 2014 was held at the Hotel Istana Kuala Lumpur with the theme “Looking Ahead To 2020”. In the words of Dato’ Dr. Zaki Morad Mohd Zaher, Chairman of the NKF Board of Directors, it was to provide an insight into the up-to-date practices and recent advances in the treatment of chronic kidney disease. It would thus widen the horizon of knowledge of medical personnel.

Equipped with such know-how the practitioners would have their competency enhanced. The Meeting has also become a nationally recognized benchmark as those attending it are eligible to secure continuing professional development (CPD) points for inclusion in the total CPD points they will require to qualify for the renewal of their practising licences. The 1 1/ 2 day Meeting, comprising 7 symposiums and 3 plenaries, covered a comprehensive range of issues ranging from those directly related to dialysis to social and emotional matters faced personally by the patients themselves.

Approximately 600 individuals attended the Meeting, which also featured booths by pharmaceutical companies displaying their dialysis equipment and other medical products. NKF too had a booth promoting organ donation and awareness of kidney disease, in addition to selling merchandise like t-shirts, blouses, bags, coin boxes and fridge magnets.

NKF congratulates the 12th ADM Organizing Committee under the Chairmanship of Dr. T. Thiruventhiran as well as Dr. Tan Li Ping and members of his Committee for carrying out their tasks excellently.
