NKF Training Centre

INTRODUCTION

To maintain the standard and consistency of quality dialysis care, the NKF Training Unit was established in August 2003 to provide comprehensive training to dialysis assistants, staff nurses, and assistant medical officers working not only in NKF dialysis centres but also other dialysis providers throughout Malaysia.

In 2009, the unit expanded, and the NKF Training Centre was set up due to the rapid increase of dialysis patients and the needs of competent and qualified staff. The NKF Training Centre plays the important role of maintaining the professionalism of dialysis centres’ staff when providing care to the patients.

To this day, NKF Training Centre’s commitment to advancing kidney health education and improving healthcare professionals’ knowledge and skills remains steadfast. We continued to focus on delivering high-quality training programmes designed to enhance the understanding of kidney diseases, dialysis treatments, and overall kidney health management. The training programmes were designed not only for healthcare professionals but also to raise awareness and educate the patients and caregivers on kidney disease.

We are now leveraging both in-person and digital platforms to make training more accessible, inclusive, and adaptable to the needs of the healthcare community. LMS serves to provide equitable access to high-quality training on kidney health across Malaysia. NKF aims to use the LMS platform as the main training tool to streamline the learning process and enhance the learning experience while overcoming the barriers of geography and students’ time.

The Training Centre comprises nurse tutors and clinical specialists who conduct the following programme annually:
